Short bio:

Carissa Ouellette is a philomath: a lifelong learner who can’t resist getting her hands into new fields. She calls herself “Da Vinci’s Daughter,” and like her namesake she moves easily between disciplines. She’s an electrical engineer by training, but technology is only one of the places she works. Her path has also taken her through research, entrepreneurship, operations, strategy, and creative work, and she sees each one as part of the same curious life.

Wherever she lands, her approach is the same. Curiosity gets her started, creativity shapes what she builds, and steady hard work turns ideas into something real. She has founded and co-founded companies, advised leadership teams, and worked with funders and partners to bring new ideas into the world. These days she is the founder of Vindica Labs Commerce and Future Pending.

What ties it all together is how she works, not any one field. Carissa connects ideas across areas, learns fast, and leads with empathy, which helps her bring people together around big possibilities. Based in Edmonton, she’s always looking for the next thing to learn and the next problem worth solving.

What first drew you into Carol's Closet?

Carol's story has to be the one of the most intriguing stories of female entrepreneurship I have yet to come across. She was an enigmatic woman with a wardrobe this Virgo-woman can barely comprehend. I was in awe to learn of her story as Kelsey was digging into the sheer volume of her wardrobe. That intrigue sparked curiosity, and as the project grew it was really only a matter of time before Kelsey found a way to loop me in. Challenge accepted!

Favorite thrifted/vintage find ever:

As a carnivore who cooks steaks almost daily, the coolest find has to be a full-blown functioning Ninja Foodie Air Fryer for 4.99 from the Salvation Army in Okotoks, AB. If you ever happen to be in that area, that thrift store is the BOMB. True deals and treasures to be found in that one.

One item from Carol's Closet that feels most like you:

Instead of picking an item, I'm going to pick a feature: The GOLD. All the gold. It screams value, lux, and class. I felt drawn to all the shiny gold features present not only in the clothes, but in the jewelry. Carol was a classy woman!

One word for Carol's Closet:
